Traffic Karma

Posted by SMM on 21:06
I have bad traffic karma.

(I also have bad 'my bag is always the last bag to come out after a flight' karma while we'r at it).
If there is a traffic jam, I have to be stuck in it. If there is a pile-up thanks to some car which has broken down ahead, yes yes I will be there in the middle of that pile-up, tearing my hair out and station-hopping hoping to find some good music playing and not some stupid RJ going on yadda yadda  nonstop (Btw why do they all sound so bright and chirpy, don't you just feel like strangling them ever).
When it pours and the traffic (obviously) goes bonkers, I am caught up in the worst of it. My new record is 6 hours on the road. And everytime that I am suffering my bad traffic karma, my husband who has excellent traffic karma (and he refuses to pass some onto me to even things out) is either working from home that day or he is travelling. My trafic karma also extends to my train travels.

Yesterday, after I was stuck in Gurgaon for two hours and hadn't even managed to reach the toll plaza, I took an U-turn home, picked up MIL, changed from my black-n-whites into some friendly tattered denims & old tee and the two of us took off for the salon where we spent a good 4 hours. You know what they say, when life gives you lemons you make lemonade :P

What's your traffic karma?

Very bad.
I start saying pros-n-cons about metro-life.

Now that you mention it, my traffic karma is the traffic version of the common man: nothing to speak of :P

Flights on the other hand, always get delayed, always. Grrrrr

@ Hobo

Oh well more pros thann cons in ametro...but then there wuld be pros and cons in which ever place I stay

@ DewdropDream

My flights are generally on time...but then I end up waiting almost an hour later waiting for my baggae to come.Onetime I even had to go track down the airlines guy cuz one of my bags hand't come out yet.Turned out it had fallen down somewhere behing the conveyor belt and they hadn't noticed it:P

LOL!!!
I loved the post!!

I am always stuck in the jam when Im late and if not that, Im the first one to reach and everythings empty..
Its like i took an early bus to college cos i didnt want to be late cos of the jam and i was the first first year in college..
If it weren't for the sports people, Id have been the first
:(

Dont even talk abt traffic, sometimes i feel glad i may soon be leaving this country coz i jus hate the crowds everywhere, be it the malls or be it on road. Grr...

oh gosh! I took 10 min to reach office that day :D
But I have fairly good traffic karma. As I often tell (tease) my colleagues...on good days it takes me 7 minutes to reach work, and 15 on bad :P

I'm superstitious about saying things aloud for fear that they may change. Nevertheless, I will say this: I have good traffic karma. I went to Bombay last March and did not encounter a single traffic jam! In Bombay, where there's always a traffic jam somewhere. Can you imagine how good my traffic karma is!

traffic karma? bad. very bad.

also i try to be super intelligent and try to pre empt jams...which lands in larger soups..err jams.

Wow! I mean, 'wow' at the DIL-MIL time :-) Traffic karma....count me in!

Infact, this reminds me of the time I was supposed to pick up the Chief Guest for our MBA annual day or something. And I got stuck in traffic, and therefore, we did not have a Chief guest! Ofcourse I got a royal blast the next day!

arre...you totally went for the tequila here :D

I have that same problem with airport luggage..always last.

I don't think I have a traffic karma...good or bad!! Is that Good? or Bad? LOL!!

I have relatively good traffic karma. In australia toh I have no issues at all. In Singapore it isn't that bad either!

@ Harini

Thanks babe...its good to eb th first one in college. You can ifinish all the homework tht you forgot to do - tht's what I used to do in school :P

@ Ria

Leaving the country? Where are you going? I thought K was the one going to UK.Are you also going with him?

@ Meira

Lucky you :)

Bu good thing is I get to sleep in the car every morning and I use the evening drive to catch up with friends :)

@ D

Can I touch you so tht some of it will rub off on me. I used to stay pretty close to my office in Bombay (but not walking distance & definitely no train needed)bu even there we used to get stuck in traffic :P

@ Mumbai Dica

gawddd...tht's exactly what I do. I try to think ahead after listening to what all the stupid radio people say and then land up in an even bigger jam

@ Pallavi

Yes the DIL-MIl time was good :)

And welcome to the bad traffic karma club :P

@ 'A'

So you have bad 'airport baggage' karma :p

As for not having any traffic karma, tht's a good thing me thinks - that means you'v never even noticed tht there are any jams and zip past - tht's good right?

@ Miss M

Lucky you...please pass some of your good karma to me too :)

I used to miss my flights. Now im always JUST in time. Including trains. They always seem to delay their departure, just so that I can board. Traffic, I have a bike. I am one of the guys you swear at :P But I drive nicely, no?

I have terrible flight karma too :) But I make lemonade on all traffic jams, listen to music and call long lost friends :)
