exactly ur sentiments!
I concur!!!
Also - it is a good idea to get home at a good time.. cos the roads become more and more dangerous as the night progresses!!
oh God - so sorry to hear that S..... Great post. More of us need to write such stuff.
Utopia: Precisely my sentiments. They all pay off the judges and get out of jail in any case or live like kings and make criminal contacts in jail and mark it as a badge of honour that they were in jail
SMM,
Sorry to hear that. It must be terrible. I've been so depressed the whole day, after witnessing an accident this morning. A guy's ankle got ripped off his leg man! He sat WAILING on the road until someone helped. Terrible. I really really do hope people are more careful while driving.
Regards,
Pallavi
I completely agree with u babe! ppl in India really need to imbibe some civic sense which they so totally lack....u knw in Mumbai every other day ppl die by coming under the train.....jus bcoz they r in a hurry and they dont want to use the overbridge!! Its stupid coz they choose to lose their life rather than using the overbridge.
Hi, I lost my brother too and the hurt just never goes away. Our case against the truck driver is still in court, it's been dragging on for 13 years now.
Since then, my parents and I have tried much to educate people on the need for safe driving - that traffic rules are there for a reason, but I have to confess, it's an uphill task.
Oh my gawd Pallavi that sounds scary. Recently one of the people in my office had a terrible accident and lost part of a finger because he had to brake suddenly when a girl just came out of nowhere talking on the phone right in front of him and he skidded and hurt himself while that madam coolly walked off. I don't understand how can people be so heartless
Hey Ria, I think we all need to be more proactive in pointing out when someone is not following road manners - but I know its easier said than done. If I tell a jaywalker that he is doing something wrong, he's just going to ask me 'tere baap ka kya jaata hai?'
I wish there was something we could do to educate people
Maggie, I can only say I understand the loss that you and your family suffered. But yes I wish thee was something we could do to be more proactive about this. In Delhi at least, more than an uphill task its an impossible task. Any ideas?
Sorry about your brother, I know thats a scar which will hurt a long time. Your dead on about the total disregard for traffic rules in India, and I never knew I was an offender too till I came to the US.I nearly crossed the road because there was no one there , till K pulled me back and asked me to wait for the Signal. I wish the traffic rules were tougher and punishments scarier. That way ppl can remember that lives are at stake, when they put their leg on the accelerator.
PS:Thanks for waking me up from my blog slumber
I drive everyday as u know, and not jst from home to office, but all over Delhi. It apalls me how people drive here. It is disgusting, they lack basic civic sense and love to dart randomly in front of a moving car. ughh..
