Something I have been ignoring for a while now - my weight. I am some 5 kgs overweight. I plan to lose them asap. But I don't want to go on a crash diet. I want to lose it through proper diet and exercise. I have been researching online for what would be doable by me and have zeroed in on these
  • Brisk walk on the treadmill
  • Skipping (I need to buy a skipping rope this evening)
  • Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day (well I already drink upto 2 litres everyday)
  • Stomach crunches
  • Cut down on the coke, chocolates ice cream and sweets (I can't completely cut them out - I'm a Bong after all)
  • Eat healthy
  • Cut down on the junk food
  • Snack healthy
  • Stair-climbing
I am a healthy eater (in terms of portions) and I really don't intend to start living on a lettuce leaf. Another problem is that lack of exercise coupled with increase in intake fatty/junk food/ chocolates has resulted in these extra kilos. Till college, I was always a very active person - swimming, cycling, walking, running, climbing trees (for the jamuns and the keris and our meetings in the tree house), running up and down stairs (I used to hate waiting for the lift), basketball(in school) etc. were a part of my daily routine.
My resolution (for the new financial year) is that keeping in tune with recession, I shall lose the extra kilos and get back to a healthy, non-flabby body. I guess I had become complacent. Without being vain, I was always proud of my figure and stamina (take it in terms of walking 2.5 kms uphill in less than 15 minutes and no other way you dirty minds). People have always complimented me for it so I never ever thought that I could become flabby. I want to lose all this unsightly fat. I have never ever been conscious of what I wore - now I have to think this is figure hugging, so my tummy is going to show. Though I am slim, I have a broad bone structure, so the extra kilos don't show up so much YET. I am a married woman, but does not mean that I sit back and pile on the kilos. My mother and my mother-in-law have both maintained themselves very well. Even in their fifties, they look so good in jeans. That's what I want.
If any of you have any weight-loss tips, pliss to give folks.

All the best to you!

I am extremely health conscious! If you are looking for inspiration do visit the health category on my blog and read my health page (I even have my body pic there).

But some may say i am an extreme case and overdo it! Even I have put on weight of late but it's temporary!

hahaha! i so know how you feel. well for starters avoid rice. i always do that when i wanna cut down on my diet and it really helps. stick to brown bread and the usal say no parathas and cheese and pizzas and yada yada yada! ;-) best of luck!

i love running and thats the most rejuvenating way for me to loose weight. nothing like exercise i say. :D

I am planning to go for the half marathon.Well its still in the planning stage..:-)

**If any of you have any weight-loss tips, pliss to give folks.

Im actually about 5k less than I was few months ago. My tip for u would be to go on a daily 45min walk...just make sure u dun miss it no matter what. Foodwise, dun eat too many carbs in a day. but dun overindulge in dieting...thats not my style. I eat what I like but always in moderation...and I dun miss my walk.

Good luck SMM and yes Im bak :)

Keshi.

Ria...the doing religiously part is the toughest. I am brilliant at making resolutions but definitely not when it comes to sticking to them. This time I'v told a bunch of my friends to kick my ass and make sure I work hard. Let's hope it works.

J...I'm trying. I'm trying :)

Hey Vikas...well guess 'l be seeing you around on the new fitness blog so you'l know what's going on with me :)

Utopia...I love walking. I can walk for hours (I think I picked it up during the innumerable meandering around Turf during our teenage years:P)

And me give up rice? I might as well give up eating then

Hey Lostie....gimme some tips please :)

Keshi...the biggest problem for me is the time. I work long hours 6 days a week and at the end of it all get very little time to myself. I'm trying hard to make some changes in my schedule so that I can spend some time on myself

u go gurl!!!! lose that 5 freakin annoying kgs.. PS: i have to loose 3! ;)

Vishesh Tippani -- avoid Rice at Nights, Have either rice or 2 rotis, Stop Ice-creams and Maida for a month, switch to 1 coffee/tea a day, and eat lots of fruits and veggies, eat only home food for a month -- you will see you have lost about 2 kgs..

PPS: i lost 13 kgs last year in 3 months and trying to maintain it now... so if i can do it.. so can you! just avoid junk.. walk away if someone is having junk.. :)

Yall the Best!

Arjun...typo corrected :P
